Noble & Williams Challenge Cup
Our Noble & Williams Team Challenge Cup Tournament is our internal tournament which we run four times during the season. The tournament is named in honour of Pat and Dave Noble and John and Lesley Williams, who have dedicated many years to running and coaching Lightwater Junior Badminton Club and been proactive in promoting and developing the game of badminton in the local area, helping many young players to achieve their goals and enjoy the sport.
We are very proud to say that Pat, David and John have all been awarded the English Badminton Award from Badminton England for their dedication to the sport.
The tournament is run over 3 hours where the whole club participates together. Teams are made up of pairings, all at similar ability levels. Each pair plays the other pairs on their court, aiming to gain as many points as possible for their team. The team with the most points is the winner of the Cup. Lots of fun, team spirit and prizes are on offer.

​For our newer members, this internal ‘Games Day’ is a good way of introducing competition in a fun and familiar, non-pressurised environment for our members and an opportunity for the players to put into practice all that they have learnt so far this season. Each pair wins points towards their team’s total points tally so even if they don’t win every game, their points still count.
